Cycle to Work Scheme
What is the Cycle to Work scheme?
Within the Government’s Green Transport Plan, there’s a tax exemption which allows employers to provide cycles and safety equipment to employees as a tax-free benefit.
Here at Dialled in Bikes we are a Partner Store for Cyclescheme, one of the UK’s largest providers of the scheme. With Cyclescheme and Dialled In Bikes, you can get a bike and safety equipment including a helmet, reflective clothing, a cycle lock, lights, etc, tax-free, which for most people means they save about 32% of the cost.
If you have been considering cycling to work as a way of improving your heath, your bank balance and doing your bit for the environment then this is a great way of buying a bike to do so.
To be able to get a bike through the scheme you employer if not already signed up, must join Cyclescheme through a simple free on-line registration process. Once your employer signs up to the scheme, they can then purchase a brand new bike and safety equipment up to the value of £1,000 tax free, on your behalf. You will then be able to pay for this monthly from your salary over a period of 12 or 18 months - this is known as a salary sacrifice.
Full details on how the scheme works for employees and employers can be found here on the Cyclescheme website. Of course you can always come into the shop and we will be pleased to advise you on how the scheme operates and help you select a bike and equipment.
We are now partners with Cycleplus and can offer employees of organisations such as Jewsons and Royal Mail tax free bikes.
